* I generally do a mix of posed and candid shots. This means that for some photos, I guide children on how to sit or stand or tell them a particular way that I want them to look at me. During other parts of our time together, I capture them being them. Their true laugh, their smile, the way they run around or give their siblings a high five. 

* Expect your child to have a really good time. At my last session we were in a gorgeous field of wildflowers and the session before that I had a little 4 year old boy taking me on a hunt for Shrek's house.  We opened gates and doors and you know what?  We found him!  And often times, little girls will find butterflies in my lens if they look carefully.
