Get to know me and why I made the pivot to become a private photo editor
I’ve always been an open book. As a person, as a photographer and as a mentor. If there’s something that I know and you want to know about it, I’m more than happy to share with you. I have loved being a photographer for the past 13 years. And while I’m not giving that up, I am making a huge pivot in my life and I’m doing that for several reasons.
When my marriage came to an abrupt end after nearly 29 years, I was left with suddenly having to provide for myself. And honestly, it’s been terrifying. I’ve spent the last year and a half trying to figure out what my next move would be. I did a couple years of school at the community college when I was 19 and I worked in preschools. Besides being a photographer, that’s the extent of my workplace experience. So how was I going to make a full time income doing something that I’ve always done part time? The answer was obvious, I wasn’t.
What Editing Has given Me
The door to becoming a private photo editor opened up to me and then it clicked. This is what I needed to be doing. I love editing and I especially love weddings and portraits. There was a time that I used to shoot weddings and while I don’t shoot them anymore, I love editing them! The truth is, I truly love love. I love going through an entire day’s worth of images and feeling like I was actually there. I love taking what someone else captured and helping those images come to life. Editing sparked something inside of me that I desperately needed. Hope.
As I’ve spent the last year studying, planning and outlining how I wanted to offer private photo editing services, I can truly say that I am so ready and so excited for my future. My goal this year is to take on the editing work for several wedding photographers, as well as some portrait photographers. I can not wait to get started! The More Fun Details
Do you want to know some of the more fun details about me? I have two dogs that I am so in love with, Bruce and Luna. I have 4 grown children between the ages of 20 and 25. I’m pretty proud of the fact that I get to spend lots of time with them as adults (I must have done something right, though I’m not sure what it was!). I could eat ice cream and tater tots every single day. Not together, but definitely as their own meal. I truly love a good nap! I’m moving from California to Utah in a month and I’m equal parts excited and scared. I believe being happy is a choice. And that’s me! If you want to know anything else, just ask!
